BSc Banking and Finance at Philomath University is designed to expose students to global financial markets, basic principles of Banking and Finance, the roles and functions of major financial institutions and markets, with particular reference to Nigeria and the world at large. This course is ideal for anyone who wants to venture into the financial market given students opportunity to obtain the qualification most suited to current global financial trends and it also equips you with the right skills and capacity to tackle the different challenges you will come across in the ever- changing business and digital world. Students will also be enroll into the Chartered Institute of Bankers of Nigeria [CIBN] as students members. The Department will work in partnership with international financial organizations and the country’s financial institutions such as the World Bank, International Monetary Fund, African Development Bank, Africa Import-Export Bank, The central Bank of Nigeria, Development Banks in Nigeria and the commercial Banks to acquaint students with the working of these financial institutions with view of ensuring that students secure placements for internship and industrial work experience.

The Department of Banking and Finance is fully accredited by the National Universities Commission (NUC) and will partner the Chartered Institute of Bankers of Nigeria and other financial institutions for students’ benefits and hands-on experience. We have experience faculty members. The Department engages in a variety of initiatives, real social and economic assistance to this nation and it exposes the students to ever changing digital world. The Department guides students to a world of finance and banking experiences with cutting edge mode of instructions and course contents. The course instructions is practical in application with experience sharing modalities. Students will be exposed to out of campus collaboration and networking. We look forward to a world of knowledge sharing experience together in the world of finance and banking in the fifth industrial revolution.

Requirements

O’Level Requirement
Five Credits SSCE in English, Mathematics, Economics, Accounting and any other relevant subjects.

Unified Tertiary Matriculation Examination:
English Language, Mathematics, Economics, and Government/Geography

Direct Entry
Two ‘A’ Level passes chosen from Accounting, Economics, Management, Mathematics, Geography and Statistics

All first year students who accept Philomath as their firm choice are guaranteed a place in accommodation on the main campus provided they’re eligible and complete their application by the deadline.

All inclusive rent

Your rent will include utility bills, basic contents insurance, maintenance, communal cleaning and a contribution towards your halls activity fund. Your accommodation fees are paid on a semester basis, so it’s easy to keep track of what needs to be paid and when.

Safe and secure

All halls have CCTV. We also have 24-hour manned security officer for oncampus accommodation and mobile patrols. All student accommodation offered by Philomath has robust fire safety measures in place. All of our halls are signed up to recognised accommodation code of practice, guaranteeing your right to safe, good quality accommodation.
