About

Economics is a course that produce graduates who would be in great demand in the labour market internationally. To be specific, the programme has as its aims on sound foundation in the basic principles of economic theory, exposure to a wide range of specialization of economics widening the range of choice of future professional careers particularly in the government services, private sector, non-governmental organisations, development partners, the academic world and international financial and business establishments. Students will be encouraged to take relevant courses outside their major disciplines with a view to equipping them with tools and expertise which embellish their effectiveness as economists.

More broadly, an economics degree helps prepare you for careers that require numerical, analytical and problem solving skills – for example in business planning, marketing, research and management. Economics helps students to think strategically and make decisions to optimise outcomes.

Requirements

O’ LEVEL:
Five Credits at SSCE in English, Mathematics, Economics and any other two relevant subjects

Unified Tertiary Matriculation Examination:
English, Mathematics, Economics, and any of Government, History, Geography and CRS/IRS

Direct Entry:
Two ‘A’ Level passes chosen from Accounting, Economics, Management, Mathematics, Geography and Statistics
